How to activate CardExchange using HDD as Machine-ID

CardExchange uses a Machine-ID to identify the computer associated with a license. By default, the Machine-ID may be based on the network port’s MAC address.

To help prevent license issues caused by changes in the network port, you can use the 4-MachineID Exchange Utility (Alternative – HDD Based) to generate a Machine-ID based on the hard disk drive (HDD).

Follow the steps below to activate CardExchange using this Machine-ID.

Step 1: Download the MachineID Exchange Utility

  1. Visit the following link:

  2. Download 4-MachineID Exchange Utility (Alternative – HDD Based).
  3. Run the utility.
  4. Take note of the generated Machine-ID, which starts with 4-xxxxx.

Important: Keep a copy of the generated Machine-ID. You will need it in the next step.

Step 2: Activate Your License Online

  1. Open the CardExchange License Activation page:
    Product Activation
  2. Enter your license details.
  3. Select Lookup.
  4. Enter the Machine-ID generated in Step 1.
  5. Select Activate.


Step 3: Download the License File

  1. After successful activation, download the generated license file (.LIC).
  2. Save the file to an accessible location on the computer where CardExchange will be installed.
  3. If the license file was downloaded on another computer, transfer it to the host computer.

Important: Make sure you know where the .LIC file is saved. You will need to locate it when activating CardExchange.

Step 4: Open CardExchange

  1. Launch CardExchange on the host computer.
  2. When the activation screen appears, select Activate.

Step 5: Load the License File

  1. Select Advanced.
  2. Browse to the location where you saved the .LIC file.
  3. Select the license file.

Step 6: Complete the Activation

  1. Select Activate.
  2. Select Finish to complete the process.

CardExchange should now be activated using the HDD-based Machine-ID.
